Leaks and reassembled e-liquid

Have you ever had to deal with a drop of e-liquid coming up? Incessant projections? It’s annoying, but unfortunately, it happens from time to time. Just like the untimely gurglings, or even the small drops which evacuate slowly and discreetly through the airflows, which can come down on the thread and dirty your box.

This can become very annoying, and for some, discourage them and make them return to the classic cigarette. To avoid the worst, below are some solutions to these problems. These points do not require great knowledge and complicated actions.

Cleaning

Cleaning the equipment is an important thing. It eliminates the deposits of clogged liquids which could hinder the perfect sealing of the joints, or even prevent poor closing by screwing the threads.

Very often, leaks and gurgling are due to condensation which forms in the drip tip (evaporation of the liquid which has returned to room temperature and turns into droplets) or even a little liquid which has flowed down the resistance (too much liquid put in the resistance during priming).

The solution

The solution to this problem is the use of absorbent paper to clean the thread of the battery as well as that of the clearomiser. You can also “sweep” the chimney of the clearomizer by twisting the absorbent paper and passing it through the drip tip.

You can also blow (with the absorbent paper surrounding your clearomiser), to release the excess e-liquid stored in the airflow.

Equipment check and maintenance

 – Check your resistance. If it starts to darken or the taste is altered, it’s time to change it.

 – You will have less risk of leaks with a low impedance resistor. The so-called sub-ohm resistors, on the other hand, heat up more, causing more evaporation, therefore more condensation.

 – A  poorly primed resistor will not soak in properly and will cause liquid to flow.

Setting the right power is essential: If you send too low a power to the resistance, the liquid will boil instead of evaporating spontaneously. This will cause a crackling, and a projection of droplets of liquid. (Ideal Watt power indicated on the resistors).

– The assembly of your clearomiser: check that everything is correctly assembled, you must not force the threads at the risk of damaging them.

– The seals: dismantle them and check the general condition. A worn or incorrectly positioned seal can be a source of leaks.

– Tightening: The seals are there to ensure a perfect seal. Do not use too much force when tightening. First, it would tear the seals, or crush them too much which would compromise their effectiveness. Secondly, you would experience difficulties in dismantling your clearomiser for the replacement of the resistance or the cleaning.

The ideal for the maintenance of your clearomiser is once disassembled to clean it with hot water and dishwashing liquid (a toothbrush can help you to clean in depth the hard-to-reach places). Then, you must rinse the elements with plenty of clean water and then dry them.

The e-liquid

The viscosity of E-Liquid is defined by the proportion of Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin (VG). An 80/20 liquid will run smoother than a 60/40 liquid.

So the thicker the e-liquid, the less risk there will be of leaks. (Note, however, that not all resistors are compatible with liquids-rich in VG).
